Ladies let be real for a moment. I know I have said “well if I don’t do it then it won’t get done right” many times. Many of us feel this way and we have trouble giving up control especially when it comes to something like our wedding day. Doing everything yourself does not mean your day is going to be perfect. If you are stressing about every little detail, then you are not able to fully enjoy your wedding.
Repetitive and simple tasks
Don’t sweat the small stuff. Ask for help with the simple mundane tasks like stuffing envelopes, packaging favors, and folding place/escort cards. Instead invite your girls over open a bottle of wine put on your favorite tunes and turn it in to a party. As the saying goes many hands make light work.
Having all the answers
Weddings are full of moving parts and it takes many people working together to pull off a large event like a wedding. Having a time line and wedding info on paper will make everything run smoothly. You don’t want to be in the middle of getting your hair and make up done and have to pick up the phone every time it rings to give directions or what time this vendor is going to so up and where they are going to set up (insert wedding coordinator here). If you don’t have a coordinator plan on having Call any one but the bride cards made. These are cards that have other phone numbers on them so that vendors and guests can call if they need information so you can focus on your day. DON’T put your phone number on your wedding site. This is a surefire way for you to get called for every small detail. Another way is to give your phone to your mom or a bridesmaid to answer.
Day of contact
The day of contact is the person is the person that will be the main contact for the wedding day. This is usually your wedding coordinator. They can handle any last-minute payments or tips for vendors. This is also another great time to think about those any one but the bride cards.
If you have ever tried to take family photos, then you know that it is just like herding cats. No one is where they need to be when they need to be there. You, as the bride, should not have to be the one to do this. Assign the task to some one else (Insert wedding Coordinator). Also Make a list, with names, of your must have photos and send it to your photographer.
We all know that 1 hiccup can have a snowball effect and throw the whole day off schedule. Make a time line and assign someone to keep you on schedule. Another good excuse to hire a wedding coordinator.
Be a professional mover
Don’t spend the day moving things. There are so many other things you should be doing and setting up chairs and tables are not on that list. Ask for help, Friends, family, other people who are not needed for other wedding day tasks (insert wedding coordinator). Make a list of wedding items needed and draw a diagram for where they need to go at the venue.
It is ok to ask for help, but keep in mind that by assigning your friends and family tasks there is the possibility that they may be unable to enjoy your special day. By hiring a professional, you can have peace of mind in knowing that we do this all the time. You are also able to avoid any added stress that can lead to burn out. You want to remember your wedding day as a beautiful event where you and your fiancé professed your love for one another.
